Tonight (23 June 2020) we attended Fashion For Good’s Impact and Innovation in Textile Manufacturing webinar. Panelists discussed how recent world events have affected and inspired change in the textile and fashion retail industries.
The overall sentiment was ‘build back better’. Players in all parts of the supply chain have been forced to and have the opportunity to continue to consider how their business operates in existing but often overlooked areas like stock management, digitisation of previously analogue or in person processes (such as online showrooms and factory inspections, minimising the need for travel and resulting carbon emissions) and end of use solutions for consumers like buy back or recycle programs. This is a job for brands, manufacturers, agricultural producers, investors, consumers, nonprofits and anyone else who makes, sells or buys clothing and other textiles (so… all of us!).
